New Hampshire Poker Rooms? Anyone Comment on These? Not logged in -   Reply

I live in MA, North of Boston, and within a 15 minute drive of the NH
border. Recently, I've discovered that through some weird NH law, NH
Greyhound Race Tracks can legally offer poker. These are dubbed
"Charity Casinos", since they have slightly higher rakes and a certain
percentage needs to go to a specified charity. Has anyone of this
forum played at any of these poker rooms. I've been looking at the
ones located in Rockingham (Salem, NH), Seabrook, and Belmont. It
looks like they only offer $1/2 limit cash games, but the tourneys
look like they have a good structure. Plus I'd rather drive 15 minutes
to one of these rooms vs. the 1.5 hour ride to Foxwoods. So if anyone
can comment, I'd like to hear what your thoughts are on the rooms,
tourney structure, level of play, dealers, etc.

Been to the Rockingham Park room about six times, tournament action
appears good, I'm not a tournament player but most of the players at
the limit 1/2 tables seem to think well of the sit and gos, better
than the games at Seabrook. I've heard a few good things about
Seabrook but the consensus is it's not so good.

Average age playing at the limit tables is ~65.

I play at Belmont in their 1/2 cash game... It's about an hour drive
for me so I only go about once a month... Their limit game has a
full $2 bet on the flop but other than that is pretty much normal.
The Sundays I go there it's generally pretty soft with regular
players (nice polite bunch) who are there for entertainment and
tournament players, who don't have a clue about cash games, waiting
for the 4 o'clock tournament, However, the last time I was there,
early July, the cash game rarely had more than 5 players where
before there were generally two 10 player tables going... Not sure
if this was caused by summer or the fact that they now have a
blackjack and craps table along with an early tournament...I will be
trying it again the weekend after labor day...

Thanks for the info everyone. Anyone how often the blinds get raised
for the multi table tourneys (i.e. every 10, 15, 20 mins)? Also, I was
thinking about trying the $60 tourney with rebuys at Rockingham on
either a Wed. or Thurs. night. How many players typically play in
these tourneys during the weekdays?

Thanks Again

20 minute levels in the MTT's.

The 60 has 1 rebuy only.

Generally runs around 20-25 people
