‘Reverse’ Takes FTOPS VII Main Event --  A lengthy final table turned into a $456,401.66 win for unknown online player "Reverse" in the main event of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series VII. "Reverse" held off a very well known player, the Full Tilt-sponsored Thomas Wahlroos, who surged late and finished as the runner-up for $276,454.75.  Hendon Mob member Ram Vaswani made two deep runs in FTOPS events that day, finishing 14th here.  Reports suggested that four of the nine final-table finishers in the FTOPS main event had little or no online track record before showing up here, raising the possibility that a later investigation might uncover multi-accounting, as happened in a previous FTOPS final.

Andy Black Wins PartyPoker Premier League --  Andy Black and Tony “G” Guoga dominated the preliminary heats of the 2008 PartyPoker Premier League, winning three heats each while players such as Phil Hellmuth and 2007 winner Juha Helppi were quickly bounced from contention.  In the Grand Final, Black came through for the win and the $250,000 top prize.  Roland de Wolfe played his way into the final and parlayed his way to second place and $120,000, while Tony G settled for third and $60,000.

Poker Stars $2 Million Turbo Takedown Draws 9,600 Runners --  Maybe too many people were getting close to trading in points for Porsches, a la Dario Minieri, or maybe PokerStars just wanted to steal a little bit of Full Tilt’s FTOPS-created thunder.  In any event, Poker Stars announced its $2 Million Turbo Takedown just a week ago, and ran the promotional event on the same Sunday as the FTOPS Main Event.  The special Stars tournament allowed entrants to join only via the use of 10,000 Frequent Player Points (FPPs), though they could satellite in for smaller amounts, and 9,600 players signed up, 4,000 of whom would cash.  The biggest cash of all went to "mombasi," who claimed the $200,000 winner's prize.

2008 WSOP Schedule Changes Announced --  Once again, the high-profile $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event at the World Series of Poker has been rescheduled to find it the most prominent possible slot amid a busy worldwide poker schedule, including other events at the WSOP.  The WSOP has shifted the start of the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. tourney from noon on Sunday, June 22, to 5 pm on Wednesday, June 25.  It is swapping spots with the $2,500 Deuce-To-Seven Triple-Draw Lowball, which moves up from Wednesday to the earlier Sunday slot.

Adam Geyer Takes Two-Day FTOPS Deep Stacks Event --  The most distinctive tournament in the FTOPS schedule is always the two-day, deep-stacks $2,620 event which runs the entire closing weekend.  The latest edition featured a former FTOPS event winner breaking through for the biggest cash of his career.  Adam “csimmsux” Geyer came from behind at the final table to take down the $488,175 prize, the biggest of a busy online weekend.  It was the second FTOPS “gold jersey” avatar for Geyer, who won a Pot Luck Omaha w/ Re-buys event in FTOPS V.

Bodog Announces Bodog Open --  Even Bodog got in on the online poker series action this past week, announcing its inaugural Bodog Open, which will run March 3-9, 2008.  The Bodog series will continue that site’s tradition of offering bonus money to participants by tossing in $75,000 to the events’ prize pools.  $10,000 each will be added to the purses of the five preliminary events, while $25,000 will be added to the prize pool for the March 9 main event.~~
